Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

Product facts referenced by this policy: versioned public snapshot.

1. Our Commitment

ChordVox is an AI voice input method designed with privacy as the highest priority. We believe your voice and your words belong to you — not to us, not to advertisers, not to any third party.

2. What We Do Not Collect by Default

  • Audio recordings: Local speech-to-text processing is performed on your device using built-in model families such as Paraformer, Parakeet, and Whisper/GGML. When you use local transcription, audio files are never transmitted to our servers.
  • Transcribed text on our servers: We do not collect, store, or analyze text generated from your voice input on ChordVox servers. The app may keep history locally when that setting is enabled, and optional cloud AI sends the text needed for that feature to the provider you select.
  • Keystrokes or clipboard content: We do not monitor or log any keyboard input or clipboard activity beyond the paste operation you initiate.
  • User behavior analytics: We do not use tracking pixels, session recordings, or behavioral analytics within the application. If you opt in to usage analytics, the app sends only fixed onboarding milestones and privacy-filtered error diagnostics; these payloads do not include raw audio, transcripts, keystrokes, or clipboard content, and you can disable this in Settings.

3. What We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the licensing system:

Data Purpose Stored Where
Device ID (random UUID) License activation binding License server
Platform & app version Compatibility & support License server
Email (at purchase) License delivery & support Creem (payment processor)
License key status Activation validation License server

4. Cloud AI Features (Optional)

If you choose cloud-based transcription, the recorded audio is sent to the configured cloud service needed for that transcription. If you choose cloud-based AI polish features (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, or custom endpoints), your transcribed text is sent to the respective third-party API provider. These choices are optional — local transcription and local AI models (llama.cpp with GGUF) can be used for fully offline operation. We do not act as an intermediary for BYOK API calls; your API keys connect directly to the provider.

5. Crash Logs

The application may generate local crash/error logs for debugging purposes. These logs do not contain user input content by default. When optional telemetry is enabled, privacy-filtered crash/error diagnostics and fixed onboarding milestones may be sent to Sentry; disabling telemetry stops that reporting. Local logs remain on your device unless you choose to share them with support.

6. Third Parties

  • Creem: Processes payments as merchant of record. Their privacy policy governs data collected during checkout. We receive order details (email, order ID, plan type) for license fulfillment.
  • GitHub: Hosts application downloads and release assets. GitHub's privacy policy applies to downloads.

7. Data Retention

  • License activation data is retained while your license is active.
  • After license expiration or revocation, activation data is retained for 90 days for support purposes, then deleted.
  • Payment records are managed by Creem per their retention policies.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your data from our license server
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise these rights, email: [email protected]

9. Children's Privacy

ChordVox is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
